The Graduate Database Engineer is an entry-level position within the Platform Operations team, designed for recent graduates who are starting their career in database engineering. The role focuses on learning core database concepts, supporting daily operations, and building hands-on experience under the guidance of senior team members.
The Graduate Database Engineer completes routine database tasks while developing foundational DBA skills in a structured and team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Completes routine database operational tasks under supervision
• Executes backups, exports/imports (Environment Refresh), and basic scripts following defined procedures
• Completes on-premises database installation, configuration, and patching activities with guidance
• Create, maintain, and update technical documentation
• Performs on-premises database troubleshooting and issue identification
• Resolves client on-premises database maintenance tickets
• Track assigned tasks and maintain accurate ticket updates
• Communicate progress and status updates clearly to the team
• Follow established processes, standards, and best practices
Objectives:
• Resolve assigned tickets within agreed timelines, maintaining ≥85% on-time completion
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking of all database activities and time entries
• Ensure quality and reliability of DB operations
Previous Experiences/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
• Basic understanding of databases and SQL concepts
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) is an advantage
• Basic understanding of operating systems (Linux/Windows)
