  • Project Assistant

The Project Assistant provides office administration support for a technical assistance project between the PRO and Customs Administration and the U.S. Treasury Office of Technical Assistance. The Assistant will support advisors based overseas who travel frequently to Skopje for two to three weeks at a time. When advisors are in Skopje, the assistant will arrange meetings and provide language interpretation support, and complete frequent document translations, among other tasks. In the absence of the advisors, the Assistant will represent the project, complete document translations, and report regularly to the Project Manager (main advisor). Communication is handled by phone/WhatsApp, MS Teams, and email.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Translate documents and interpret oral communication;
  • Prepare accurate, written reports on a regular basis on multiple projects;
  • Represent the project when foreign advisors are not in-country;
  • Coordinate meetings and workshops and assist in achieving access to government officials at all levels;
  • Handle confidential documents and correspondence with utmost discretion;
  • Assist with local transportation and hotel arrangements, if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Higher education degree preferred in one of the following: Linguistics, English, Public Administration, Business, Economics, Accounting, Law, or related fields;
  • Minimum three years in the following areas: Translation and interpretation support in English and Macedonian, Office management and administrative support, Giving oral presentations and briefings, Working with government officials;
  • Fluency in English and Macedonian (Familiarity with specific terminology (tax policy and administration) + good interpretation skills);
  • Knowledge of Albanian is an asset.

  • Organizational and administrative skills;
  • Interpersonal skills; dedicated, reliable, self-confident;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word;
  • Time management skills;
  • Setting and meeting deadlines;
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of officials in local and foreign governments;
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

Position Office Location: Public Revenue Office (PRO), Skopje, North Macedonia
