We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong technical foundation and an interest or background in data architecture to join our expanding data team. This role is ideal for experienced data engineers who want to influence architectural decisions and gradually step into more strategic design responsibilities.

You will design and build scalable, high-performance data platforms that enable advanced analytics, reporting, and data-driven product features. You will also contribute to the evolution of our data architecture by driving best practices, advocating for scalable design patterns such as medallion architecture, and helping define data governance, modeling, and lifecycle strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize reliable and scalable data pipelines (batch and streaming).
• Lead implementation of medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) in our data lake/warehouse.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and engineering teams to align data design with business needs.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Apache Airflow or equivalent orchestration tools.
• Design and model efficient schemas and data marts (star schema, data vault, etc.) for analytics.
• Develop reusable, modular code for data ingestion, transformation, and quality checks.
• Work hands-on with columnar data systems like ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Implement and advocate for data quality, lineage, and observability practices across pipelines.
• Engage in architectural decisions related to scalability, cost-efficiency, security, and resilience.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
• Deep understanding of data modeling techniques and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with modern data stack tools: Airflow, dbt, ClickHouse, Snowflake, etc.
• Experience designing and operating distributed data pipelines and batch/streaming systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), particularly with cloud storage and compute.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and containerization (Docker).
• Ability to design, review, and optimize data architectures and processing strategies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders and engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, Spark Streaming, or other real-time data platforms.
• Familiarity with data observability and quality frameworks (Great Expectations, OpenLineage).
• Exposure to security and compliance considerations in data environments (GDPR, DLP, etc.).
• Prior involvement in data architecture design or eagerness to grow into that role.
• Experience in online gaming industry.
• Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and downstream analytics requirements.
