Our client, company that develops and manufactures innovative, reliable and cost-optimised products for the global automotive industry and is among the top 100 automotive suppliers in the world, is looking for a qualified and motivated candidate at the position of:

GLOBAL STRATEGIC BUYER / MECHATRONICS

Purpose of job: The buyer monitors the overall supplier performance and ensures that suppliers have the capacity to cover the company requirements commercially, technically and quality wise. Specific responsibilities include development of category strategies, identification of cost saving opportunities, facilitating and leading sourcing projects, supplier negotiation, and establishment and maintenance of supplier relationships. Working as part of the Purchasing team within the Administration department liaising closely with the Engineering, Quality and Logistics departments and reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery

targets

• Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
• Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs with existing and new suppliers where possible. Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required
• Assess and evaluate existing suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
• Responsibility for the supplier evaluation process; Manage escalation process for C suppliers –consequence New Business Hold, Risk Assessment red.
• Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
• For new projects the nomination of suppliers is generally done by the strategic buyer, commodity management, project purchasing and supplier quality. Have right of veto on the nomination.
• Management of Engineering Changes which affect bought in components to ensure on time implementation and zero obsolescence costs.

Requirements:

• BSc in Technical Sciences or Economics
• At least 3 years of experience in procurement of direct materials preferred in the automotive or similar industry, with an extensive network of suppliers of direct materials from around the world. Experience in procuring plastic, electronics or electromechanical materials will be considered an advantage.
• Advanced operation in the SAP MM Module will be considered an advantage
• Experience with complex price negotiations and cost analysis
• Proven track record in cost reduction activities;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point and E-Mail - Outlook);
• Excellent knowledge of English (reads, writes, speaks);
