Export - Import Specialist
Main responsibilities
• Perform a range of activities to facilitate the timely and accurate import, export, and shipment of materials, equipment, products, packages, and documents;
• preparing and maintaining shipping records; preparing bills of lading; computing duties, tariffs, price conversions, weights, and volumes;
• Prepare customs declarations and other required documents that describe the goods and materials being shipped and comply with all import/export regulations;
• Research, identify, and obtain, the permits, licenses, and certificates that are required for customs clearance;
• Communicate with external organizations (for example customs authorities or shipping agents) to verify customs requirements and negotiate shipping costs and times;
• Responsible to in-coming and out-going order processing and documentation, including generating delivery/shipping documents;
• Liaise with internal and external transport companies/departments for timely in-coming/ out-going shipments;
• Ensure prompt and accurate declaration of permits and prompt delivery and clearance of shipments;
• Investigate and action all non-conformance and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements and expectations
• Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for concentration in supply chain/logistics, international trade or economics;
• Strong English - Multi lingual is an asset;
• Strong organizational and communication skills;
• Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines;
• Good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities;
• Personal skills and competences: Accurate, Flexible, Organized, Time management (organization);
• Technical skills and competences: Lotus, Writing procedures, Knowledge transfer, Commercial awareness.
