About the Company:
Bucim DOO Radovish is the only operating cooper mine in North Macedonia. It is in Radovish in southeastern North Macedonia. Bucim is an open pit mine which produces a concentrate containing copper and gold. Since 2005, the Bucim mine has been a part of Solway Investment Group, which has enabled Bucim to pursue a new path and secured the mine’s long-term prospects. With 650 employees, the mine is the largest local employer in the region and is fully committed to its social and environmental responsibilities.
About the Job:
The Compliance Officer (CO) is responsible for leading and managing the Compliance Program of Solway Investment Group at Bucim and contributing to the continuous implementation and improvement of the compliance framework and its components.
The CO plays a key strategic and administrative role, guiding the development and implementation of effective compliance, ethics, and risk management systems across the organization and its subsidiaries in North Macedonia.
The Compliance Officer will support the business in implementing and applying compliance-related policies, controls, and procedures, including delivering regular training, ongoing coaching, and consultation to ensure consistent understanding and application across the organization.
The position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer of the Group and works closely with local top management (CEOs, Solway Group COO, local Risk and Compliance Committee), being an integral part of the Global Compliance Leadership Team (GCLT).
Key Responsibilities of the Compliance officer:
- Compliance strategic leadership and governance
- Risk management and controls
- Compliance training and culture across the organization
- Monitoring and reporting of compliance activities, training metrics, incidents, and key developments
- Third-Party Management
- Donations & Sponsorship Compliance
- External Relations on compliance matters, including legal advisors, auditors, regulatory authorities, and business partners
Requirements:
- University degree in Law, Business Administration, Corporate Governance, Compliance, or other related fields;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, corporate responsibility and / or corporate governance, preferably in an industrial or mining company.
- Experience in a managerial position in compliance-related departments will be an advantage, but is not mandatory.
- Ability to work in complex, dynamic global environments.
- Experience in designing and implementing ethics and compliance programs in global environments, with an emphasis on the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) (subject to current enforcement pause), the UK Bribery Act 2010, the EU Anti-Corruption Convention, the Swiss Penal Code regarding bribery, and other similar legislation.
- Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to work independently, take initiative, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills; flexible but persuasive, able to communicate effectively, and defend positions.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret rules and guidelines, conceptualize policies, procedures, and controls, and apply sound, independent judgment and maturity in complex and sensitive cases.
- Fast learner, highly adaptable, and motivated to continuously expand knowledge and skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to draft clear and precise documents.
- Strong stakeholder orientation with a constructive and solution-focused approach to problem resolution.
- Fluent in English in spoken and written forms, knowledge of Russian is an advantage.
