• Develop, implement, and continually update safety policies and procedures in line with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Monitor driver compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), ELDs, and other federal/state requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits, vehicle inspections, and facility inspections.
• Investigate vehicle accidents and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead safety training, orientation, and ongoing education for drivers and staff (covering topics like defensive driving, cargo securement, and hazardous materials, if applicable).
• Manage incident reporting and recordkeeping, including drug and alcohol testing programs.
• Collaborate closely with fleet management to enforce maintenance protocols and correct safety deficiencies.
• Serve as a resource to employees for safety-related questions and concerns.
